This is what we have been told our whole lives, but I know now there were people and communities and cultures here that were simply ignored at first then systematically eliminated through violent and brutal means.
This makes it so hard for me to celebrate our 250th, having been lied to most of my life about how we came to destroy something so harmonious and beautiful that we can never truly understand.
I love Willa Cather. Hard to read in many ways. Her early life was hard enough to make prairie life de rigueur :).
